I was born and brought up in London, attending City of London School, and then the University of Birmingham Medical School, where I graduated with a Distinction in Psychiatry in 1992. After jobs working in Hospital Medicine, Surgery and in A&E, I returned to London for my postgraduate training in Psychiatry, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1997.
I have been an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist since 2002, working in Kensington and Chelsea. I have also worked in Private Practice since 2012.
I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London, where I was also a Tutor for a number of years, providing pastoral care and support to students. I am also involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training.
I have run lectures, workshops and courses on a diverse range of subjects, such as how to optimise the management of a variety of mental health conditions including Depression and ADHD, the use of Algorithms in healthcare, and “Happiness”.
For a number of years I also had managerial appointments, working on the development and implementation of high quality, evidence-based mental health care within my NHS Trust, as well in London and at a National level.
I have now returned to what I enjoy most - full time clinical work, in the NHS and in private practice.
